The 12th Water Loss Conference, hosted by the International Water Association’s Water Loss Specialist Group (IWA WLSG), recently concluded in Donostia / San Sebastián, Spain. With over 620 delegates from 50 countries, this event brought together water loss professionals, researchers, and industry leaders.

Stuart Stapely, Urban Water Solutions’ Non-Revenue Specialist and WLSG Committee Member, chaired a session on pressure management, where he also presented on “The Difficulties of Pressure Management and How to Overcome Them.”

The conference featured 84 presentations, workshops, and an impressive exhibition hall, showcasing cutting-edge solutions. Discussions covered topics such as pressure efficiency, real-time adaptive control, and energy efficiency. Despite these technical advancements, leak repairs remain a critical focus of the industry, consuming half of water loss budgets.
